Homemade Perfume

Since mother’s day is less than a month away, I plan to make a natural homemade flower perfume for her and share it with you all. The one thing that helped me develop this idea was that May is the end of spring, and spring is my mom’s favourite season. The season brings colors and happiness for birds and bees while also bringing beautiful smell and fragrance for everyone. Just to give a last feel of spring and a memory that stays with her forever even when I’m not around her, I decided to make a perfume from flowers.

Making your own perfume might sound crazy complicated, but it is simple and easy. According to the recipe I’m following, we don’t need many ingredients- just any flower whose fragrance you want along with some essential oils. Water and alcohol will help us in making the base of our perfume. I’m using essential oil because I like soft flowery tones, but you can get fragrances accordingly if you prefer stronger tones.

The flowers which we got from the store or the garden add depth and originality to our perfume. They make the fragrance look fancy and pretty. Rose, lavender, jasmine, and gardenia are my favourite scents. You can make the perfume with one scent or make it a combination of two.

Just a tip: Do not add more than three fragrances together; it spoils the fragrance as a whole, and it isn’t easy to come back once you have already added too many smells. Start with 2-3 drops of essential oil, mix your formula and add essential oil more after testing according to your preference and choices.

It is a good idea to make one scent if you are a beginner because once you try mixing scents, you need different kinds of scents that help form base scents, middle notes, and top notes. Each fragrance comes under a certain tone which is challenging to mix and match a little bit, in my opinion.

This is all you have to do. After you are happy with your fragrance, just fill it up in a bottle, and you’re good to go.
