Trader Joe’s: Your Rejuvenation Station

You’ve had a full face of makeup on for hours upon hours. You’re beginning to feel oily, cakey. The creases in your face have eaten your foundation and your undereyes have caught the residue of your eyeshadow and mascara. You’re exhausted, and the last thing you want to think about is getting home to wash your face. Let alone, getting home to wash your face and then apply heavy, creamy, moisturizer on your skin. Bleh

I feel you. I’ve been there. But, of course, our one and only comes along to save the day. Our loving, neighbourhood store. The one that has never let us down: Trader Joe’s, ladies and gentlemen! Yes, Trader Joe’s.

If you’ve never visited their beauty section, you are missing out. It’s a must! Trader Joe’s has a collection of skin care, hair care, and beauty products on their shelves, and the products are amazing! They’re all clean, as they are mostly made with natural ingredients and organic components. To make it all better, most of the collection is made up of products under $5. That’s right, and it’s incredible!

Even though I have fallen in love with all of Trader Joe’s products, I have especially given my heart to a few favourites that help me on those same nights of makeup removal. My ride-or-dies are: the Cucumber + Citrus Body and Face Wipes, the Moisturizing Gel with Aloe Vera, and the 100% Australian Tea Tree Oil. Even when I’m most tired and lazy, these three products help me successfully (and quickly) complete a refreshing night time routine.

I start out with the Cucumber + Citrus Body and Face Wipes ($3.99). The soft fabric of the wipes keeps from irritating my face, especially in sensitive areas like my eyelids and under my eyes. The citrus feel allows for a very light and refreshing sensation on the skin, and the soap instantly removes all of the excess makeup from the face. After using a single wipe, I like to splash a tad bit of water on my face. Even though the wipe fulfills its purpose gracefully,  I like to incorporate this step into my routine because I love the sensation of cold water on my skin after a long day. It helps close up your pores before going on to the next step: moisturizing.

As I mentioned before, I use Trader Joe’s  Moisturizing Gel with Aloe Vera ($2.99). I love to use the gel instead of a traditional creamy moisturizer because I naturally have oily skin, and I’ve noticed that heavy moisturizers tend to break me out and clog my pores. This gel however, has never let me down because it is oil-free. If you suffer from dry skin though, this product can also work for you too! The bottle declares that the gel was actually developed for dry skinned folks. The formula contains aloe vera, allantoin, calendula, and arnica — all ingredients that help soothe the skin, which is exactly what it does.

Lastly, I move on to my favorite part: the application of the 100% Australian Tea Tree Oil ($5.99). I personally love the scent, and of course, the wonders that it’s done for my skin too. I apply a single drop on the top of my index finger and I dab the oil on blemished spots on my face. Tea tree oil’s antimicrobial and antiseptic properties make it a true team player when it comes to treating scars and infections (like pimples). I’m no doctor, but I can genuinely say that Tea tree oil cured my acne breakouts, and it later smoothed out my scarring. Ever since I started using it on a daily basis two years ago, I have seen a significant difference in my complexion. I am truly thankful for my renewed, refreshed skin tone.  However, a disclaimer on tea tree oil: I know that some tend to be more sensitive than others to the oil, so I recommend talking to a dermatologist before adopting this step onto your daily routines or diluting it with water or another face oil on a trial basis.

Now, you can all go home from a long day without having to dread your makeup removal process. You will go to bed feeling fresh and wake up even fresher!

At amazing prices and with consistently great quality, we can once again declare that Trader Joe’s is the GOAT.

Happy Sunday, and stay safe out there everyone!

XO,

Valeria
